Delete your account
Sivolo · Sivolo Limited · Last updated: 14 August 2026
Before you do this, consider whether you need the record. Deleting your Sivolo account
permanently destroys your encrypted backup, and because that backup is encrypted with a key we do not
hold, we cannot recover it for you afterwards — not for any reason and not at any price.
If your Journal, recordings or reports might matter later, to a solicitor, a court, the police or a
support worker, export them first: open Sivolo, choose the entries or reports you want,
and export them as a PDF or a .sivolo file to somewhere you control. That export is yours to
keep and is unaffected by deleting your account.
How to request deletion
Send an email to [email protected]
from the email address your Sivolo account uses, with the subject
“Delete my Sivolo account”. You do not need to give a reason, and we will not ask you for one.
We use the fact that the request comes from the account's own address to confirm it is you. If you can no
longer access that mailbox, say so in your message and we will find another way to verify you — we will
not simply refuse, but we also will not delete an account on the word of someone we cannot identify,
because that would itself be a safety risk.
We will confirm when it is done, and in any case within one calendar month, as required by
UK GDPR. In practice it is usually much quicker.
What is deleted
- Your account and sign-in credentials
- Your email address, and any name, phone number, postal address or organisation you entered for PDF export headers
- Your entire Secure Cloud Backup — every Journal entry, photograph, video, voice note, Crisis Capture recording, location trail and report we hold for you, together with the encrypted keys that protect them
- Your Trusted Circle: every contact you nominated, every share you created, and any notes exchanged. Existing invitation links stop working
- Any analysis result still waiting to be collected, and any analysis job in progress
- Your entitlement records, and your notification token
What is kept, and why
We keep two things, and only for as long as the law requires:
- Transaction records for purchases you made — the amount, the date and the store's
transaction reference. UK company and tax law requires us to retain financial records for six years.
These records do not contain any of your content.
- Reliability records — anonymous entries noting that a request failed, with a country and
an app version. These have never carried an account identifier, so there is nothing in them to link to
you, and they are deleted automatically after 90 days regardless.
Anything you have already shared with someone through Trusted Circle, and anything you or they have
exported or downloaded, is outside our control once it has left us. Deleting your account revokes future
access; it cannot recall a copy someone has already saved.
What you can delete yourself, right now
You do not have to close your account to remove data. From inside the app you can, at any time and without
asking us:
- Delete individual Journal entries, captures, media and reports
- Delete everything in Secure Cloud Backup, from the Secure Cloud Backup screen, while keeping your account
- Turn Secure Cloud Backup off entirely, so that nothing further leaves your device
- Revoke any Trusted Circle contact's access, which immediately invalidates their link
Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account or your cloud backup. Use one
of the routes above.
A note on your safety
If you are deleting your account because someone else may be able to see your phone, deleting the app is not
enough on its own, and neither is deleting your account if the app is still installed. Sivolo's in-app help
covers what else to check. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. In the UK,
the National Domestic Abuse Helpline is 0808 2000 247, free and open 24 hours.
