Sivolo version history — what changed in every release

v6.39.39

⚠ NEW INSTALL, not an over-the-air update - this build carries the native PDF render watchdog that could not reach you in v6.39.38.
The Trusted Circle "Export All Contacts" PDF now opens on a picture of your circle, with everyone's name, access and status listed underneath, before the detail pages.
The up/down scroll arrows now sit at the left edge on every screen, matching Reports and the Journal, instead of floating in the middle.
Opening a report now shows the same folder mark as the Reports list and the Home tile.
In Settings, the Crisis Capture & Safety heading has its shield back - it was blank.
An edit you make on one device now reaches your other devices, and survives closing the app - reports and journal entries could previously get stuck and stop syncing entirely.
Recently Deleted now shows what you deleted on THIS device, with a line telling you how many more were deleted elsewhere; Restore all and Purge all act on what you can see.
Opening a journal entry that is still syncing, or that has been deleted, now tells you which of the two it is instead of showing a blank screen you cannot leave.
Large photos and recordings attached to a journal entry no longer freeze the app while they are being encrypted.

Exporting a report as a PDF now shows the same progress dialog as the journal export, and waits for you to tap Share or save instead of jumping to the share sheet.
Tap the (i) on a report and you can now see which device and account produced it, where it was delivered, and which device you are reading this copy on.
An imported report now says plainly that the details shown are the sender's, not yours, and "Packaged" is now "Exported by sender".

The export dialog no longer looks stuck at the end - every step is ticked and the bar is full when it says the export is ready.
Tapping "View this report" or "Share or save" now shows straight away that your tap was registered, instead of appearing to do nothing on a large file.
An imported report now wears a green NEW IMPORT badge on its card until you open it, so you can find it at a glance - the green bar across the top of the list has gone.

Password dialogs no longer trap you - if the keyboard covers a field, the dialog now scrolls so you can reach it, on both the export and import password sheets and on the backup unlock sheet.

Exporting your whole Journal to PDF now shows a progress dialog telling you which step it is on, instead of nothing at all. Please try it with as many entries as you have.
Importing and exporting Report Data files show the same dialog. You should never again be left wondering whether your tap registered.
You can tap "Continue in background" after five seconds to put the dialog away and let the export finish - the share sheet still appears when it is ready.
You can cancel an export at any point. On an IMPORT the cancel button disappears once it starts saving, because stopping half-way would leave you with an incomplete report.

Importing a password-protected report file on iPhone no longer leaves the app frozen.
The import always worked - it was the app that would not respond afterwards, and the only way out was to force-quit it. Please try an encrypted import and keep tapping around.
Exporting a report with a password should feel the same way. That path had the same fault, so it is worth a try even though it was harder to trigger.
While a file is being decrypted or encrypted, the dimmed "please wait" layer no longer covers the clock and battery at the very top of the screen. That change is deliberate - tell us if it looks wrong to you.

Restoring everything from Recently Deleted no longer locks the app up while it works.
This applies to both Reports and Journal, on the phone apps and in the web app.
An empty Journal now reads as one block instead of one line stranded under the bin.

The Recently Deleted badge now shows how long you have left to restore an item.
Buttons that cannot do anything on the screen you are on are no longer offered.

If you delete your only report, Recently Deleted is still reachable - it used to disappear with the list.

If the app has been refusing to analyse your own message logs since mid-August, saying the log was too large, that was our bug and not your log.
It is fixed, and beta accounts have no size limit and never did.
The confirmation panel over the Delete All button is now readable against whatever is behind it.

The brand header no longer expands and collapses - it is always the compact row, on every screen, which gives every screen back about 32dp of space.
Delete and Delete All have moved into the floating ACTIONS button, at the TOP of the list - furthest from your thumb - and now ask you to confirm before anything happens.
Delete All no longer destroys anything permanently: it moves everything to Recently Deleted, where you can restore it, exactly like deleting one item. Journal has a Delete All for the first time, and Reports can be deleted from the report itself.
Android journal PDF exports should have their maps back. Please export the whole journal and check every located entry has its map.

With Reduce Motion (iPhone) or Reduce animations (Android) switched on, the ACTIONS button now opens properly - the three buttons were invisible before.

An uncollected analysis really counts down now, and turns red inside the last 24 hours. It used to freeze at whatever it said when you opened the screen.

The scroll chevrons have SPLIT - "jump to top" now sits at the TOP left, "jump to bottom" at the bottom left. They used to sit together, where a mis-tap sent you to the opposite end of a long report.
Android only - the pale rectangle showing inside the floating buttons is gone.

Tapping Export PDF on a Journal now offers Cancel. On iPhone that dialog previously had NO way out at all - an accidental tap forced you to export something.

On a report, the export buttons have left the bar under the header and become a floating stack at the bottom right, in reach of your thumb. The scroll chevrons have moved to the bottom LEFT.
Scrolling down a report now shrinks the Sivolo header to a single brand row, giving the report about a third more of the screen. It stays shrunk until you scroll back to the very top or change screen - that is deliberate, not a bug.
Nothing moves on Home, Protect, the 999 screen or the capture screens. Those keep their fixed header on purpose.
The 999 screen now reads the emergency number to VoiceOver and TalkBack digit by digit ("nine, nine, nine") instead of as a number ("nine hundred and ninety nine").

The "tap again to delete" confirmation now shows in full strength red on Reports card notes and Journal entry notes too - the two places v6.39.2 missed.

A note you add on a report card in the Reports list no longer appears under Executive Summary. Open NOTES INDEX and tap it - it opens there, with Edit, Delete and History.
Notes index rows now use two different markers: a chevron means "takes you to it", a triangle means "opens here".
Exported PDFs gain a short REPORT NOTES section after the cover page. Nothing has been removed from the export.

If you permanently delete a crisis capture, it now stays deleted on a NEW phone too. Until this build, deleting a recording was only remembered on the phone you deleted it from - so if you replaced your phone and restored your backup, the new phone did not know, and it could rebuild the deleted recording and put it back in your Journal. Your account now remembers the deletion itself, for 90 days, so any phone you sign in on knows it was deliberate. Nothing about this is visible on screen; the test is that a capture you delete does not come back.
One thing that is NOT finished, so you know what to expect: if a recording made it into your backup but the phone was lost or taken before it finished saving the Journal entry, the app can now tell that the recording is there and unaccounted for - but there is still no screen that offers it back to you. That part is designed and agreed and comes next. For now it is recorded in the app's own diagnostics only.

v6.38.0

Nothing you can see has changed in this build, and unlike the last one, nothing you could have run into either. A journal entry can in principle hold more than one crisis-capture recording, and the part of the app that remembers "the owner deleted this on purpose" could only remember one of them - so a second recording could have been rebuilt from your cloud backup and reappear. We could not find any way to actually create an entry like that, on your phones or in the code, so nobody has hit this. It is fixed before it can become possible, and the app now refuses outright to file one recording under another recording's name.

Nothing you can see has changed in this build. It fixes a fault in how the app told our server that you had deleted something for good - the message was being lost, and a deleted crisis capture could then come back from your cloud backup. If you have ever had a deleted recording reappear, this is the cause, and it is now fixed.

If you delete a crisis capture, it stays deleted. A bug meant a deleted capture could be rebuilt from your cloud backup and reappear in your Journal the next time the app synced - twice now. The app no longer treats a capture you have finished with as something lost that needs rescuing.
If a recovered capture ever DOES appear, the message no longer tells you to delete the recording. If the app is not sure, you keep the recording and decide yourself.

v6.37.3

Crisis Capture's GET READY NOW card now checks whether your phone is set to Precise or Approximate location. Approximate is not enough for evidence - it only places you within about a kilometre - so the card will say "Not ready yet" and point you at the "Use precise location" switch in your phone's settings. (iPhones are not affected; the app cannot read that setting on iOS.)
When you tap GET READY NOW on Android, you now get a short note explaining that your phone will ask twice, and that "Allow all the time" is on the settings screen it opens next - it is not in the first box. Several of us tapped "While using the app" and assumed we were done. We were not: the location trail stops the moment the screen locks.

Settings > About > "Replay location disclosure" now does nothing visible when you tap it - that is correct. Force-quit Sivolo and reopen, and the location screen appears at start-up the way a new user sees it. Last version it popped up immediately, on top of the instructions telling you not to dismiss it.
That reset no longer replays the welcome walkthrough, only the location screen. The walkthrough is still there any time behind the "?" at the top of the screen.

The location screen you saw at first open now has the little coral chevron when there is more to read below - the last section was being cut off mid-sentence.
Settings > About has a new "Replay first-open screens - Reset" row. Tap it to see the location screen and the welcome walkthrough again without reinstalling. It changes nothing else: your journal, reports, backup and sign-in are untouched.
That reset does NOT change your phone's location or microphone permissions - no app can. Change those in your phone's own settings if you want to see the permission prompts again.

These are background protections - there is nothing new to tap, and nothing you need to do differently.

If a photo or recording was ever saved to your cloud backup as an empty file, Sivolo now notices and replaces it with the real one from whichever device still holds it.
Your backup no longer treats an empty stored file as proof that an attachment is already safely backed up.
This is a background correction - there is nothing new to tap, and nothing you need to do differently.

If two of your devices disagree about an entry and you tap "Decide later", the rest of your journal now backs up normally instead of the whole backup stopping.
The Backup screen tells you how many entries are waiting on that decision, and confirms that both versions are still safe.
There is a new "Show me the differences" link on the Backup screen that brings the comparison back up when you are ready to choose.
Your cloud copy of a disputed entry is never overwritten until you have chosen which version to keep.

If you keep notes on an analysis AND it is edited on another device, Sivolo now keeps BOTH sets of notes whichever version you choose. Before, one set was silently lost.
The Sync conflict dialog now has a "Decide later" button. It always could be postponed, but there was nothing to tap - you had to guess that the back gesture would do it.
That dialog now names the analysis that forked and when it was delivered, instead of just saying "Analysis".
On a journal entry with a Trusted Circle note, the Add note button no longer sits right on top of the contact's Reply link.

On a journal entry, NOTES now has its own coral heading like Media Attachments and Details, instead of sitting in a box tucked under the photos.
The Add note button now sits at the BOTTOM of the notes, after anything a Trusted Circle contact has written. It used to get stranded in the middle.
If you tap Add note when a contact has left a note, the typing box now opens below their note rather than above it. That is intended — please tell us if it feels wrong.

Fixed: a photo, video or document added on one of your devices could say "This file is not on this device" on your other devices, forever — even though it was safely backed up. Opening one now fetches it from your backup automatically; the first open can take a few seconds longer, and that pause is the fix working. Videos over 25 MB still stay on the phone that recorded them, for now.

A fix for photo and video attachments after restoring onto a new phone. The app used to decide how a file was stored by consulting a note attached to the entry, which can travel between phones while the file itself does not — so an attachment could refuse to open, and could be quietly missing from an exported PDF. It now checks the file itself. Nothing about your existing attachments needed changing.

Nothing changes in the app itself this time — this one fixes a measuring tool we use to find the causes of slowness and laggy taps. It had been counting time you spent in other apps as time Sivolo was frozen, which sent us looking in the wrong places.

If you share a report through Trusted Circle, the secure link now opens about twice as fast for whoever you sent it to. The original message log is fetched only when they actually open the Source Log, rather than every time the page loads.
Exported PDFs are unchanged and still carry the full chain of custody, whether or not the reader opened the source log first.

Sivolo no longer asks "which version should I keep?" for entries you never edited on two devices. That prompt was firing on identical copies of the same entry.
If a genuine clash does come up while a backup is running in the background, Sivolo now waits and asks you, instead of quietly picking one. Dismissing the question no longer counts as an answer either.
